SORRY TDUB CLUB FOLKS, I am pouching my own page to sell these shirts as I used to publish a magazine called TMRm‘zine. 1996 – Rodney Wills: Caution to the automotive establishment. You can not talk down to our generation; if so, the shield goes up and the defense goes out from the youth. If you want this crowd, it’s almost like you have to study and know more about our culture than we do to be credible among young people. Come at us with the fake shield up, trying to look like you know who we are, and we see right through that, too. It’s all about being authentic and knowing who you are and truly having passion for what you do. It’s the same passion for what we do. Being open-minded enough to bring these two passions to the table and discuss as equals. You may have more technology, history, and massive rule books. But history is being rewritten, and rules are meant to be broken. This group has been talked down to since the first day a young guy walked into a parts shop and asked for parts to help his car go fast. He had to tell the guy it was a Honda. He paid the full price and had to take the ridicule for even trying. This has been the story of over ten years of our automotive youth: “it can not be done” or “why are you wasting your time when you can do that easily with a V8”, and that is simply what drives the youth today – change and making it our own. It’s 1948 all over again! The first ten 10-second Civics came out of a residential two-car garage of the Bergenholtz brothers. We have the fastest ¼-mile time of 174.35 MPH and an e.t. of 8.57-sec in a Front Wheel Drive car! This title belongs to a then 22-year-old Stephan Papadakis set in 2001.
